Join us for a summer of adventure, as our ever popular Summer Holiday Activity days return, this year we have moved our base camp to the wonderful and vast grounds Montalbo Primary School in Barnard Castle. We are delivering three weeks of exciting and adventurrous activities guaranteed to put a smile on your children's faces.

Monday to Friday 8.45am to 4.30pm (extension to 5.15pm available)
Week 1 - 28th July to 1st August
Week 2 - 18th August to 22nd August

AGE RANGE 
This year our age range is 8 - 12 Year Olds

BASE CAMP

Our day-long summer holiday adventures days are based from our pop up summer Wilderness base camp in the wonderful and spacious grounds on Montalbo Primary School, Barnard Castle.
From here we not only have beautiful school grounds to utilise but we are also within walking distance of endless countryside, the river Tees and stunning, natural woodland, the perfect backdrop for days crammed FULL of adventure.

On-site activities

As well as the more adventurous off site activities we'll also be spending time on site taking part in a range of activities such as Archery, Water Fights, Survival Skills, Team Challenges Shelter Building, Marshmallow Toasting, camp cooking and much more.

Off-site activities

Our off site activities will give children the chance to take part in more adventurous activities, such as raft building and paddle boarding on the river to abseiling and orienteering all within walkable distance of the school.

Example Itinerary of an adventure day

8.45am -   Drop off at Montalbo Primary School
9.00am -   Morning Ice breaker activities
9.30am -   Morning Activity - Giant Stand Up Paddle Boarding
12.30pm - Lunch (not included)
1.00pm -   Afternoon Activity - Campfire Cooking
4.00pm -   Team challenge games
4.30pm -   Collection from Montalbo Primary School
Each adventure day is made up of 2 x activities, one in the morning and another in the afternoon. Each activity lasts approx 3 hours. All safety equipment including wetsuits are provided free of charge.

The Wilderness Team 

We are a highly qualified and experienced staff team who have a passion and love in delivering high quality outdoor and adventurous experiences to children. Providing them with truly memorable and unique opportunities.

The Wilderness Company hold an Adventure Activities Licence (AALA) which allows us to deliver adventurous activities to under 18's. We also hold our public liability cover with AIM.

The Adventurous Activities Industry in the UK is governed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Each and every provider offering outdoor activities to under 18's must partake in a rigorous inspection process in order successful gain an AALA Licence.

ACTIVITY Synopsis

Abseiling
Get kitted up in a harness and helmet and test your head for heights on a challenging 30m abseil
Raft Building
Work together with your team to use large poles, rope and barrels to create a River Tees worthy Raft, then put it to the test           as you hop on!
Archery 
Chanel your inner Robin Hood as you learn to shoot arrows, play games and win prizes!
Mega SUP (Giant Stand Up Paddle Boarding)
Throw on a wetsuit and prepare to get wet, with lots of fun games, jumping off, splashing and laughs, this is a stand out activity!
​Campfire Cooking 
 
Make, cook and of course taste your very own campfire recipes from chocolate orange brownies, campfire bannock, smores and more plus some obligatory campfire songs!
Orienteering Challenge 

Put your knowledge of direction to the test by navigating your way to checkpoints to find the hidden anagram
​Woodland Nature Crafts
We will be heading into Flatts woods to forge for some of natures offering to make and create some wonderful woodland nature crafts which children can bring home
Ultimate Water Fight 
Prepare for some serious fun as groups battle head to head to soak each other using sponges, buckets, water guns and more.
Bushcraft with Survival Skills 
You will dive into the essential skills needed to survive including lighting fire,
  collecting and purifying water and creating shelter plus an edible bug tasting challenge.

Booking Terms and Conditions
- TWC (The Wilderness Co) reserve the right to cancel sessions at any point prior to event if weather of staff illness dictates.
- TWC reserve the right to alter the content of events slightly if weather condition dictate.
- TWC reserve the right to ask parents to collect their children at any time if childrens behaviour does not meet exceptations.
Cancellations
- For cancellations made 7 days prior to the event start date a full refund will be given, for cancellations made within 7 days of event start a credit note will be given for full amount. 
- For those who fail to attend event without informing TWC prior no refunds will be given.
